Operation Float a Soldier LogoOperation Float a Soldier (OFAS)
is a service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded service members and their families. We are a 100 percent volunteer, nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization (TAX ID# 26-0668233) with a mission to honor and empower wounded service members, as well as provide programs and services for their family members.

OFAS began in the summer of 2005 when two friends, moved by the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, took action to help others in need. What started as two friends and a few wounded service members on a boat for a day on the lake has grown into year-round programming to assist wounded service members and their families as they recover from their injuries. It is our goal to give these brave men and women the opportunity to take a break from grueling rehab at the hospital by enjoying a day of fun, fishing, floating and fellowship.

Operation Float a Solder BROCHUREAs our wounded service members are healing in body, mind and soul, we hope to be a part of that healing process. We are merely servants giving to those who have sacrificed for us and continue to sacrifice. As servants, we provide a great day of adventure on Canyon Lake during our summer lake day events that begins with boating, fishing, a Texas brisket lunch, some water sports, and relaxation. Each year we gain more volunteers who selflessly give their time to assist in all the preparations and serving.

In addition to the summer day events at the lake, we are involved in developing other off-season initiatives that will have a positive impact in the wounded service members and their family’s lives. Those “off-season” initiatives include fishing events, hunts, and career a mentorship program for wounded service members transitioning into the private sector and are interested in the Information Technology career field.

We continue to look for volunteers that are willing to partner with us through prayer, volunteering time, and sharing resources. For some quick printable information to share with others: Download Our Brochure!

We would like to thank…

ALL of the brave men and women serving our country. The men and women of our military are paying the price of freedom by sacrificing their own freedom and themselves to fight for ours and others. They are patriots; they believe in the ideas of liberty and have given of themselves to ensure that all of us still experience it. It is our purpose and mission to honor them, to help them, to comfort them, to love them, and to thank them for what they have done for us.
